One team took 13 hours to pick, next pick 7 hours and counting. Another team OTC 2 hours but last online 56 minutes ago. These are but 2 examples of slowing things down. How do I keep the draft moving?
What do you guys think of the following idea? 1) no working on trades when you are OTC.......do your deal prior to your pick......if you post a deal while you are on the clock, the deal is voided. 2) no OTC overnight from what hours to what hours? 3) daytime hours OTC how long?

From Drew Cardinals.....From experience it's almost better to have a shorter clock overall, but have it stop over night. if people can make picks then, great, if not, no foul. with the shorter clock, hopefully there's more ugrency

Have to have it stop at a certain time during the evening.

I personally think the pace is fine. Even with occasional full time picks, we are easily going to finish weeks before the season starts. I wouldn't mind some spring training games to help with my last few picks. We should revisit this in a week to make sure we are still on a good pace.

I think the pace is fine. Nothing egregious has occurred in my opinion.

I agree with the current pace as well actually. I don't feel a need to rush with being so far away from the season. You can always shorten the clock for the last 2 weeks or so if it looks like we won't make it in time for opening day.

I also think things are moving along nicely. If we are going to have a 12-hour window, it's occasionally going to be 6-12 hours between picks. If someone continually misses the 12-hour window, then sure, that person should be encouraged to decide whether the league is right for him. Overall, it seems like we're averaging a pretty quick time between picks.

If the majority thinks how the draft is going is too slow, or there have been too many delays, then my opinion is we don't count time overnight as our "OTC" time. If we could implement something like an 8a - 8p window as time against the clock I think would help. I know for me, when I exceeded the 12-hours (again, sorry fellas) it was 5:48p when the pick before me was taken, then i picked at 9:04a. If we implement the 8a-8p, or anything even close to that, I wouldn't have even come close to exceeding our max window.
But, in my opinion and experience with many dynasty leagues, we're at a great pace and don't believe it's an issue. Maybe just take into consideration if someone is taking awhile whether overnight is factoring into that.
Happy drafting all!

If we get to mid-February and we're not in the 20s, then maybe we need to pull it together some. But as of now, while slow, I do not think it's overly problematic.

I've honestly been impressed with how fast its gone. Obviously as one that almost had time expire that's easy for me to say. Overall, I'm not worried about the pace. Obviously everyone wants their pick to be up quicker, but overall this is going pretty quickly I'd say. Only change I'd make, if you're hellbound on making one, is stop the clock overnight, and make the times shorter.

im a bit lost to why im getting messaged to hurry up when it was only 6 hours when i have a 12 hour window. i was online for multiple hours this morning and it only moved one pick. i had an important event to attend and had to leave knowing the event wont take more that 8 hours i believed im fine. i know that everyone is anxious to pick and move it along. i was the same way this morning but at the same time everyone is putting in alot of there time into this from there lives and deserve to not only get the pick they want without feeling rushed but should be able to go about there sleep and work as usual. im am not a fan of the overnight clock stop because i live in Hawaii and im guessing it would be east coast sleep time which puts me at waking up at 2am for a clock that starts at 8am eastern. thats not fair. we are on pace to finish well before the mlb season starts. i believe everyone is trying there best to pick and research to make the clock time shorter already. just let it be. im just bit upset beacuse im one of the most active users in the league so far and have made all my pick very quickly that i would receive guff about taking 6 hours to pick while i had an important event to attend to. sorry for the rant just wanted to make my mind heard and hopeful remind that its for fun.

I certainly agree that trades shouldn't be worked on while OTC.
And have no problem with reducing the clock time but do think if we do that then a clock sleep period would need to be introduced (say 12am - 6am). But I guess a shorter clock during the week could cause problems with peoples working hours and not having or being allowed internet access?
Maybe a shorter clock at weekends?

I agree with most owners that the draft is moving along quite nicely actually. I’ve been a commish for several leagues and can understand the certain frustration with it at times, however you have to understand owners have different lives, time zones, families, job shifts, etc. And even though I check the draft rooms every 45 sec, you can’t except everyone to do that in a free fantasy league.
Changing clock to 6 hours is fine but I agree that you’d need to make 12-6am not count. Otherwise leaving it at 12 is fine,
I don’t like idea of not allowing trades once Pick is on clock one bit. Sometimes you have several offers on the table and fellow owners don’t accept pick until it is up because they want to make sure their targeted player is still on the board, man.
