Rules are important. We can’t change the rules once the league gets underway. We should vote on rule changes in a poll. That makes sense to me. It’s the model we should use.
However, we begin year two with half the teams with cap space of $13 or less. This may hinder trading for some teams. It may cause teams NOT to add free agents later on when players go on the IL or placed on Covid leave. In other words lack of mobility may cause good managers to leave the league.
I propose allowing all teams to cancel one contract at the beginning of year threeIt hurts no one. It helps all teams. It will free more cap room. Also in year three, more cap can be created with your own buyouts of players on their last contract year. It’s the evolution of how contracts work in this league. If you feel trapped with your team, I encourage you to stick it out. It gets better and better each year. The ‘OTHER’ league I talk about that I am in, that’s identical to this league, that has over a hundred trades a year going on year eight, I was able to experience the progression of contracts. This league concept works in the long run. This will be the roughest year.
Unless I get a huge backlash, it’s going to be instituted next year.
What do you think?

In one league I am in, we call it an AMNESTY release. Each year, each team may choose to drop one contract as their AMNESTY Drop. You can only use it prior to season (or by the time contracts are set prior to any drafts and season beginning.

Sounds good to me.
I don’t think it needs to introduced annually although it may help out for a year or two. Once prospects from our lists start to get promoted it should start to reduce team salary’s naturally across the league.

As long as were bidding on players, CAP used will be maximized.

I've seen one objection. I think some teams made trades, in order to free up cap, that they wouldn't have made otherwise. I don't think we should change things in mid-stream.

Cool. Thanks for working with owners who might have acted with the cap in mind.
